Paul Dell completed his MSc in Engineering Ecology at the Technical University of Munich. His academic background lies in the natural sciences (BSc in Forestry and Resource Management). He is particularly interested in ecosystem services in urban areas, especially the cooling of the microclimate.
During his master’s studies, he was involved in several research projects at the Chair of Strategy and Management of Landscape Development (TUM), including work on urban trees, urban heat islands and climate adaptation. In his Master’s thesis, he developed and investigated a parklet concept that combines placemaking with the provision of ecosystem services, thereby demonstrating an innovative approach to current challenges in urban areas. He is still toying with the idea of bringing the concept to life.
Since 2026, he has been working in the research division of the Co-creative Cohabitation Network (CoCoNet) project. There, he is responsible for modelling and simulating the microclimate in the various study areas and planning scenarios. The aim of the project is to identify synergies between sustainable mobility, climate adaptation, noise reduction and biodiversity, and to communicate these clearly to stakeholders.
