Boris Salak is a social science landscape researcher who completed his studies in landscape planning and architecture at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU), where he also earned his doctorate. He researches at the intersection of landscape, society, and technology, actively contributing to the understanding of the integration of technological advancements, societal transformations, and sustainable landscape development. In this process, he utilizes quantitative spatial and statistical analysis and simulation methods. After his tenure at BOKU (2008-2017), he moved to the Swiss Federal Research Institute WSL (ETH domain), where he worked until 2023. Since 2023, he has been active at TU Vienna in the FOB Landscape. Moreover, he is involved in the CAS "Urban Space Landscape" at ZHAW (Switzerland) and is part of the development of the world's first MOOC on landscape ecology (Module Landscape, Energy, and Society). He is actively involved in numerous highly cited research journals as author and reviewer.
