steuerBAR? Wo wollen wir “Energielandschaften” und wo nicht?
The present study focuses on the preferences of the Swiss population regarding infrastructures for the production of renewable energy (RE) (wind, photovoltaics) in characteristic Swiss landscapes. A representative online panel survey (n = 1063) was conducted, including a visual choice experiment. The results suggest that the presence of energy facilities reduces the perceived landscape quality in most cases, more so in some landscapes (mountain areas away from infrastructures, pre-Alps, Jura) and less in others (settled flatland and corresponding mountain areas (Alpine valleys), touristically shaped mountain areas). The complete absence of photovoltaic infrastructures is even negatively evaluated by the population in the latter, yet a combination with wind infrastructures can positively influence the assessment. The inclusion of public perspectives in the planning of RE infrastructures is recommended for their acceptance.
