Dissertation workshop
From challenges to solutions
Writing a doctoral dissertation is a demanding and multifaceted endeavor that presents both academic and personal challenges. It requires an in-depth, scientifically grounded engagement with a complex and highly relevant topic to make an original contribution to the body of knowledge in the respective field. At the same time, the significant time commitment required for academic work must be balanced with other professional or personal responsibilities. This necessitates strong organizational skills and self-reflection.
This seminar supports doctoral candidates on their individual journey toward completing their dissertation. It employs co-creative methods and peer case consultations to help overcome obstacles that hinder progress. Additionally, individual working and organizational strategies, as well as dissemination approaches, are reflected upon and discussed collaboratively to assist candidates in their doctoral process and future career planning.
The selection of the dissertation topic and the choice of supervisor remain the responsibility of the doctoral candidates. The seminar is open to all disciplines but has a thematic focus on dissertations in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, and spatial planning.
In this seminar, doctoral candidates will:
• Reflect on their progress to identify next steps and overcome obstacles
• Receive concrete support with topic selection, research questions, methodology, dissemination, and defense strategies
• Optimize their time and project management, as well as their individual working style, to enhance the efficiency of their research process
