Placemaking PAHO
The course addresses conceptual, analytical, and design-related questions concerning residential outdoor spaces, neighbourhoods, and placemaking. Key thematic areas include, among others, the foundations and approaches of placemaking in the context of urban residential districts; the perception, analysis, and mapping of open spaces and their patterns of use; conflicts, regulatory regimes, and governance in public space and their relevance for participation and integration; practices of appropriation and temporary interventions in public and semi-public space; design, planning, and project strategies at the interface between architecture and spatial planning; on-site investigations and user perspectives; as well as the implementation of an action week involving temporary interventions, negotiation processes, and documentation.
