Orientation Course and Contemporary Architecture
The module begins with a blocked workshop (Orientation Course) from October 2, 2023, to October 6, 2023, where, in the spirit of initial orientation, an overview of the contents of professional practice and studies will be provided. During the workshop, participants will gain initial experience with the thinking and working methods in design processes. Additionally, through visits to offices (architectural firms, authorities, etc.), students will develop an understanding of the real diversity of practice.
Lectures provide a first insight into the organization of the faculty (institutes and their focuses in teaching and research), the structure of the study program, and the requirements for students. Other presentations will introduce professional fields and the professional profile of architects. Exercises and workshops offer an initial introduction to architectural thinking and working. This involves not only the 'craftsmanship' of architecture but also its theory, history, etc. The activities, practiced through analyses and an initial design, include observing, perceiving, reflecting, researching, discussing, presenting, and visualizing. The tasks are designed to bring fundamental skills in abstraction, two- or three-dimensional thinking, and dealing with design into play during the course and in the results of the exercises.
