It's about time, Hamburg! Designing green spaces in a process-oriented and climate-adaptive manner
Design is a comprehensive architectural or urban planning project with a complex set of requirements. The depth of analysis allows for a detailed exploration of the specific task, with a comprehensive consideration of thematic contexts and specialized knowledge. The methodological approach to the design is an integral part of the assignment.
In the face of the climate crisis, cities are confronted with significant challenges. The city of Hamburg has therefore set the goal of strengthening and further developing its green space network. Starting from the city-wide green space structures, we are concerned with a socio-ecological-climatic orientation of transformation processes in planning and design. The study area is the landscape axis "Bille-Axis" in eastern Hamburg, which is an important component of Hamburg's green space network. We will operate at different scales and address questions of urban planning and open-space planning relevance. Thus, the design focuses on the following themes:
1. Socio-ecological-climatic orientation of transformation processes in planning and design.
2. City-wide green space structures as a starting point for spatial interventions with urban planning and open-space planning relevance.
3. Climate change adaptation in the context of urban transformation and adaptation of urban morphology.
This course is part of the initiative for the 2023/24 annual theme, "Transformation of the Existing."
