Less grey more green-blue
Climate Change Adaptation in the Dense Brigittenau
The project "Less Grey, More Green-Blue" took place as part of the linked modules "Open Space and Landscape" for master's students in architecture and "Resource Landscape" for bachelor's students in spatial planning. The didactic goals in this repeated coupling are to connect competencies, promote integrative planning ideas, and stimulate professional dialogue between participants from both study programs. In mixed teams, students collaboratively develop strategies for dealing with current challenges in open space planning in urban agglomerations and create ideas and designs for implementing design measures based on a specific study area.
The thematic focus in 2021 was on the topics of urban infill and green-blue infrastructure. Using the example of the northern 20th district, potentials for urban densification were examined with a focus on creating high-quality green and open spaces and adapting to climate change. These concepts were then implemented in specific urban spatial structures. An important component was the exploration and cinematic visualization of open space potentials "right at the doorstep."
The results were exhibited and discussed at the district office of GB*.
